Fairly amazing little
crystals, but how do they do all that?
Dao micro crystals are
produced from clinoptilolite, a member of the zeolite family of
minerals. You may have heard of zeolites before, but you may not
be aware that there are 106 different varieties of zeolites, and
not all of them are beneficial. For example, erionite is a
zeolite mineral that the World Health Organization lists as a
Group One carcinogen (cancer causing substance) just like
asbestos! Obviously, not all zeolites are good for you!
Clinoptilolite, however, is the best zeolite mineral for humans,
as well as animals, and that is why we use it.
These crystals function
because of the way they are physically constructed and because
of their chemical properties. The crystals themselves are
porous, like a sponge, and that allows them to trap and contain
undesirable substances. Even more importantly, they are
electrically charged. Ever play with magnets as a kid? Remember
how you could make a 'North' pole stick to a 'South' pole, but
the magnets would repel each other if you tried to push two
'North' pole's together? Dao micro crystals work the same way,
which allows them to attract and entrap harmful things like
mercury and lead while repelling 'good' things like calcium,
potassium and selenium. In other words, they round up all those
harmful substances and send them out of your body, and while
they're at it, they also neutralize free radicals.
What are
free radicals, and why should you care?
Very simply, free radicals
are molecules (or atoms, or ions) that have an un-paired
electron. This makes them very unstable. To ‘balance’
themselves they steal an electron from a nearby molecule
(particularly the ones making up the cells in your body)
creating yet another free radical. These highly reactive free
radicals can cause chain reactions as the electron ‘theft’
progresses through your cells damaging them in the process…even
damaging your DNA, the 'blueprint' your cells use to repair and
replace themselves properly! You really don't want electrons
replacing themselves 'improperly'...that's what cancerous cells
do.
While some free radicals are
created naturally by the body going about its business, other
free radicals can be caused by exposure to certain chemicals and
toxins, ionizing radiation or even high-fat diets and alcohol
consumption.
Okay, so you
can't avoid free radicals. They are not beneficial, and you do
want to get rid of them as efficiently as possible before they
ruin your health. So,
